Looking for the perfect holiday gift? How about a trip to a lush Caribbean resort full of mystery and class intrigue with The Grand Paloma Resort, or to the vibrant, award-winning world of Neruda on the Park. Both novels offer rich escapes for winter-weary readers, especially when paired with an evening of Cocktails & Conversation featuring Cleyvis Natera in conversation with Amy Bass, Ph.D., historian, author, and longtime NRPL Foundation Board Member.
Cocktails & Conversation with Cleyvis Natera will take place on January 21st at Alvin & Friends Restaurant (14 Memorial Highway, New Rochelle) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Tickets cost $70 and include delicious nibbles and two drinks.
Come for an evening of literary suspense and Caribbean dreams as the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation welcomes Cleyvis Natera to discuss her two acclaimed novels. Her newest, The Grand Paloma Resort, was praised by The New York Times for its “fast-paced suspense, class distinctions and colonial history” and as “one of those entertaining beach reads that also make you think,” while her debut, Neruda on the Park, was a New York Times Editor’s Choice, earned a Silver Medal from the International Latino Book Awards, and was selected by Malala Yousafzai for her Literati Book Club.
Natera’s work has appeared in The New York Times Book Review, TIME, The Washington Post, and The Kenyon Review, and she teaches creative writing at Barnard College and Montclair State University, where she is helping to develop a new Bilingual M.F.A. program.
